Admissions – Elementary/Middle

Advent-School-EMS-Admissions-IO

Welcome to Advent School!

Advent School was founded to provide a Christian education for all interested students and families. Our admission policies are intended to ensure that Advent School is a good fit for the student and that each student will have the support needed to develop and succeed academically, spiritually, and socially.

While it is Advent’s desire to serve all students, there are circumstances in which we will not be able to accept a student if we feel it is not the best interest of the student and/or school.

A student is accepted to Advent School  on the basis of records, teacher recommendations and an entrance exam. In some cases interviews with the Principal and/or Advent’s Resource Teacher will also be required to determine eligibility for admission. To start the process, parents will complete an online application and be required to place and non-refundable application fee. Next, the required documents listed below must be turned in and reviewed. After review of the documents, the student will be invited to take the entrance exam.

The following is a checklist of the required records for admission:
  • Recent report cards or Transcripts for at least the previous two years
  • Annual assessment test scores: SAT, FSA, VPL Assessments, etc. (previous two years)
  • Exceptional learning documentation – if applicable (such as: Gifted program participation, IEP, 504 Plan and/or other academic or psychological testing)
  • One Teacher Recommendation Form for K-5th Grade
  • Two Teacher or Administrative Recommendations for Grades 6-8
  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Certificate (form DH680)
  • School Entrance Physical (form DH3040)

Please note: While we can help students with many learning needs, student’s showing evidence of academically being two grade levels or more below their age appropriate grade, or student’s having needs that Advent is not equipped to service will not be accepted. This is for the best interest of the student.

Once the student is accepted, parents will complete the online Enrollment Packet, seen below. You will be required to place a non-refundable Enrollment Fee and provide the school with banking information for payment of financial obligations.

Re-enrollment – Progress of current students will be reviewed annually and students will be invited to re-enroll based on their academic progress, attendance and disciplinary records. Re-enrollment take place in January for the following year. Current Advent students have an opportunity for priority registration before registration is open to the public.

Tuition and Financial Aid Information for grades Kindergarten-8th Grade

At Advent, we strongly believe that Christian education is not a commodity, it’s a ministry! It’s a commitment! It’s a connection – a connection between your child’s need, your family goals, and our passion!

That’s why at Advent, the most important consideration is what is educationally best for your child. All other considerations are secondary. That being said, we know that money is an important consideration for any parent. That is why we have committed up to $200,000 in need-based financial assistance through our Family Assistance Plan.  A quality Christian education is more affordable than you might think!

For current tuition rates, please call the school office to schedule an Educational Success Consultation. Tuition and Financial Aid information will be covered in that meeting along with a campus tour.

Advent School accepts qualified applicants without regard to race, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability/handicap, economic or social status. We take pride in the diversity of our students.
