Early Childhood  Infant-Preschool

During the first stage of childhood, children are learning and experiencing the world primarily through physical activity. Here at Advent Early Childhood preschool, we provide a nurturing environment with a daily gentle rhythm of our early childhood programs that provide plenty of opportunities for children to learn and engage in meaningful ways through purposeful teaching, exploration and creative free play. While students experience a friendly and warm environment, there are procedures and personnel quietly and efficiently guarding our campus.

advent-early-childhood-infants-programInfant Program  (6 weeks – 12 months)

Our Infant Program provides exceptional, nurturing care for infants as young as 6 weeks old to 12 months. A healthy balance between “tummy time”, one-on-one attention and quiet play is maintained while the teachers strive to preserve the family schedule for eating and sleeping.

One teacher to four infants ratio is maintained, with a total of twelve infants in the room. Nursing mothers are welcome at anytime and parents are invited to visit their infants during the day.

Toddler Program  (12 – 24 months)

advent-early-childhood-toddler-programOur Toddler program provides an excellent group setting of 18 toddlers, ages 12 to 24 months. A minimum ratio of one teacher to six toddlers is maintained through the day with an assistant.

Because the stages of growth are so different in this age range, we have two separate classes. One class is for children ages 12 months to 18 months, another class is for 18 months to 24 months.

At this age level the classes are Theme Based curriculum. Each month the students are introduced to a new theme. For example: Oceans. The classes will explore all about the oceans with different activities varying from art experiences, gross motor skills, verbal communication, to group snack time, to play time inside or on our outside Toddler play area.

Our toddlers receive special music and physical education classes planned specifically for their age group, and a big hit with our children is the daily buggy ride around our school campus to explore nature with sights and sounds. Our little ones also attend chapel with other ECS classes weekly for songs and the message of God’s love for them.

Tiny Tots Program  (Young 2 year olds)advent-early-childhood-tinytots-program

Our Tiny Tots program is designed to transition young two’s to a group setting that offers age appropriate independence. The variety of schedules offered makes this program unique. Children can attend three days or everyday per week; with a choice of either half day or full day program. A minimum ratio of one teacher to eleven students, with an assistant, is maintained at all times.

At this age level the classes are Theme Based curriculum. Each month the students are introduced to a new theme. For example: Oceans. The classes will explore all about the oceans with different activities varying from art experiences, gross motor skills, verbal communication, to group snack time, to play time inside or on our outside Tiny Tot play area.

The daily schedule includes “Circle Time”, Jesus time, art, story time, indoor and outdoor play.

“My children are truly loved at Advent. The teachers & staff love what they do & it shows in how they care for my children. I also love that my children are learning in a faith based environment. I always say that taking my infant to school is like dropping them off for the day at Grandma’s house. The women that care for the babies are truly special! “- an Early Childhood parent

advent-early-childhood-tottime-programTot Time Program  (2 years old)

Advent’s Tot Time program is designed for children who are two years of age on or before September 1.

Our Tot Time program helps children thoroughly explore the five senses and engage in learning with our monthly Theme Based curriculum. Children develop social skills as they learn to take turns playing with each other and walk on a “safe rope” to activities outside of the classroom.

Language and vocabulary development are stressed thru songs, games, and fingerplays. Children also have music and physical educations classes weekly, as well as chapel with other ECS classes.

This is also the year where “Potty Training” takes place, all children must be fully trained before entering the Preschool program.

Advent-School-Early-Childhood-Music-ProgramMusic Program

Infants through Prekindergarten students receive instruction in rhythm, musical movement, finger play songs, and faith based songs for chapels. We have two very special Music recitals that the students perform in.  The first is in December for the Christmas musical and the second is in the spring for our Spring musical. Older students will receive instruction in note reading, rhythm, and beats.

In addition to playground time, students in our Tot-Time through Preschool programs participate in weekly physical education classes in our Elementary & Middle school gymnasium.

Starting in the Toddler program through  Tot-Time we integrate fundamental body movements with music and games using age appropriate equipment. Learning the body parts and different ways to move those parts helps the learning process. Playing games with a parachute, “red light, green light”, doing obstacle courses, and playing with balls and hoops are ways we make Physical Education Fun!
